Follow these steps if you\u2019re wondering how to create a receipt in QuickBooks accounting software:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. From the QuickBooks navigation menu, go to \u201c+New\u201d at the top left corner of the screen. Click \u201cSales Receipt\u201d under the \u201cCustomers\u201d column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. You should now be seeing a blank sales receipt screen. Select customer name you are issuing the business receipt to from the \u201cCustomer\u201d drop-down menu. The customer\u2019s address & contact details will already be filled out if it\u2019s an existing customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The date of the sale will automatically be set to the current date. If you are issuing a sales receipt from a previous day, adjust the input date to the correct one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Under the \u201cPayment Method\u201d field, choose the customer payment type. You can set an optional \u201cReference no.\u201d if the customer paid by check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Select where the payment is going under the \u201cDeposit to <\/strong>(account selection)\u201d section (bank deposit, cash deposits).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Under the \u201cProduct\/Service\u201d fields, enter what you sold to the customer. If the item\/product selection or service is already set up in QuickBooks, the description and price of the items will already be filled out. If you sold several product types, make sure to add them in as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Under \u201cMessage displayed on sales receipt,\u201d you can add any relevant memo\/notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. When you\u2019re finished, navigate to the bottom right of the window and click \u201cSave\u201d to save a draft, or \u201cSave and send\u201d if you\u2019re ready to send the receipt to the customer. This offers a preview before finalizing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, select the drop-down icon on the right side and choose \u201cSave and new\u201d to save the draft and create another receipt, or \u201cSave & close\u201d to save the draft and close the current receipt window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Input any changes to the subject line and email message before you finalize the receipt. You now have a print or email option. Your receipt can be printed or emailed directly to the customer depending on if you select \u201c<\/strong>Print\u201d or \u201cSend and close.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
